I was a big Ralph Towner fan when I was younger. Saw him live with several groups, and I maintained ownership of quite a few of his albums as musical media changed over the years.

Sargasso Sea with John Abercrombie
Matchbook and Slide Show with Gary Burton - these are great!
Various solo albums, and I always liked the live Oregon records more than the studio ones.

What Oregon live album would you recommend?

My partner and I got a little sad together over this one. Oregon were really something else - Out of the Woods in particular is practically in the household first aid kit - and upstairs I've got two books of Towner solo pieces I might dare to attempt someday if I can get my right hand and my reading up to a functional level.

His cd with Paolo Fresu, Chiaroscuro, is a wonder. Old Friends, New Friends, that one's lovely too.

In Concert from 1975 is good. Live at Yoshi's is a late-career live record that I like, too.
