100%

If, as Fascist Fanta says, we're counting on the Iranian people to take over their government, we're delusional. That sounds like a horrible civil war to me.

You cannot accomplish regime change through air strikes alone.
The prospect of an equal or nastier dictatorship seems pretty real in this mess. The antidote would pull Trump into a prolonged, risky, Iraq-like situation that he is probably reluctant to try.

Yeah, they just don't have a capable, armed, uprising type of group. Unlike Syria or other regional countries the government has entirely suppressed the people out of any kind of rival faction, militia etc. All they have is an exiled crown prince sending them messages of hope.

I would be shocked if there was any plan* here outside of hoping that showcase of strength will fix the poll results, at least on part of Trump and White House. But I bet there was strategic planning and playing with Trump's ego on Netanyahu's part, and his entire murderous cabinet is busy with high fives all around. At this point I'm frustrated with being frustrated by how much I still hate all of it.

*as in mid to long term 'future of Iran plan', there obviously were military and intelligence plans about carrying out the attack, hitting particular targets** etc.

This just seems like more zero strategy, strategy from the gaggle of influencers and condo salespeople running the US… honestly I actually would really like to see the theocracy in Iran ground to dust and every one of the bearded wizard apprentices that murder women for wearing their hat wrong hung off the same cranes they hang The Gays from.

Fuck the lot of them.

BUT… that’s for Iranians to decide, sure offer some material support but this isn’t that. The Orange Goblin will lose interest and leave them hanging. Just look at Venezuela
