A consistently good singer-songwriter whose snarky wit makes him one of the few folkies I can easily tolerate. I saw him open for Richard Thompson once and he thoroughly polarized the audience with a very funny but truly cruel imitation of Pete Seeger, a big no-no with Midwestern folkies ... even if his songs were shite, I'd love him for the balls of that move, and as it happens most of his songs range from good to great.

P.S.: I actually found myself sitting next Loudon him at a coffee shop the other day. He was checking e-mail and killing time before playing the folk club across the street, and I was doing the same before going to my non-air-conditioned apartment. He was pleasant when I briefly acknowledged his presence. Seemed like an OK guy to me, at leats during the 30 seconds that we talked.
