Budget Powered Nearfield Monitors

Hey I'm looking to get some small active monitors for around £250-£300.
Just looking for a bit of advice as there isn't anywhere round here to demo a wide range of speakers.
I've been looking at the Yamaha MSP-5's because I love NS-10s and I've heard they have some of the same characteristics. But have also seen that Krk make some monitors around this price/size range.
Just wondering if anyone has any experience with these monitors or also the Fostex PM5 (i think), or alesis monitor 1 powered speakers.

THANKS!

I have a pair of Samson Resolvs that are actually quite nice. I went into the shop expecting to buy Events, but after running some CDs through various speakers, I decided the Resolvs sounded the best. Another guy I know uses Samson ribbon monitors at his commercial facility - he says it's the closest thing you'll get to Adams at a reasonable price.
Complexity isn't a problem, it's a solution.

My buddy (who works at L+M) swears that the blue sky speakers are absolute shit. I personally have no opinions about them. There are some powered warfdale speakers that are very cheap although I haven't heard them either... I was given a pair of JBL62 speakers and they're working out well. I too switch between B+W speakers to get perspective. If I had the money, I'd get the KRK powered eight inch set. (Are they called V8's? Yeah, think so...)

I would REALLY like to hear some opinions of these little warfdale speakers...

Ok So I went to the music store today. Of course there was the mandatory sales man trying to push me to buy EVERYTHING they had, and not giving a subjective opinion.
Before I started talking to him he was selling a pair of Warfdales, which he immediately told me are absolutely the shittest thing ever as soon as the customer left!!! I'm sure they're not but I've never really liked Warfdales. So already I didn't trust the guy at all. I asked to have a listen to the Yamaha MSP5's and waited about 20 mins while he set them up, as in plugged them in and put them on the desk which was about 3 foot off the ground. Then he started playing me some quicktime video (Compressed as hell) of some wanker playing some sampled drums kits on a midi keyboard! WOW THIS SOUNDS AMAZING I THOUGHT! *Joke*
So I asked if I could plug my iPod into the desk, which I did and surprise surprise the monitors sounded far better playing back some Shellac and The Constantines!
They sound like they had a bit of a dip in response at about 1-2khz so I put a little boost on the desk and it sounded really great! Dispite the fact there was a fucking 50 year old ex roady look a like over the other side of the shop playing some rank solo's through a fucking dual rectifier, at about 120dBs!
So I asked on the price which started at £400! And soon fell to £300 when I said I could get them cheaper online. To be honest this sort of thing makes me sick, if I wouldn't have asked and just bought them I would have paid £100 OVER PRICE!
But I thought fuck it I'll have a look online, and Digital Village stocks them for £269 free P&P so there we have it. My day at the music store. I bought nothing.

I recently tried out a few of the lower end Warfdales (can't remember the model - sorry). Apparently on paper, they're flatter than most at that price, but I thought the top end on them was really harsh. I decided that if I'm going to be sat in front of them for long periods, they'd be no good to me and ended up going with the Alesis Monitor One MKII Actives.

Same experience on the price: Sound Control have them priced at £300 but instantly matched the cheapest online price I found (£230).
