There was a band from Denver called The Facet that had an incredible bari sax player that has gone on to be in half a dozen other great bands where the sax is a nice compliment to the heavy guitars that accompany it. NOT CRAP

However, horns are the predominant force in ska and ska is CRAP. so the universe evens itself out.

There's atonal ("Oh Bondage Up Yours"), there's raunch ("Yakety Yak"), there's Vuarnet sunglasses ("You Belong to the City", "Urgent"), and then there's the Vuarnet sunglasses with the delay ("Maneater").

I like "The Doors of My Heart" by The English Beat.

No love for Captain Beefheart and his occasional skronking? Or even better, Fela? OK, Fela's not rock per se, but his music is undoubtedly rocking. And he blows an eight minute tenor solo over practically every track.

Sax is awesome. On average, I prefer sax solos to guitar solos.

What would be really cool, though, is baritone sax. Oh man.
