How about some love for Tonya Donnelly? Of the the more under rated guitarists around and, I would imagine, part of the reason Pod is so great.

Kim wasn't much of a guitarist back then. I understand Tonya had a profound influence on those guitar parts.

And "the snot nosed kid from Kentucky" never sounded better.

Both Throwing Muses and Slit knew something about odd times and unconventional playing. They brought that to the party.

The other albums were good, but didn't come close to matching Pod. I listened to that record incesantly when it came out, and marveled at the production on it. It finally sank in that it's possible to hear rooms, isolated mics, and bits of verite' if something is engineered correctly.

I'll go completely over the top and say that this record was my Pet Sounds - I learned just from listening to it.

At the time I worked at a small stereo store with Mark from Archers of Loaf, who's still a pal. He would test speakers with that CD. Most people used smooth jazz or something awful like that, but Mark and I would just stand the speaker room, hands in pockets, grinning with every snare crack and enjoying every equipment rattle that had been picked up.

i absolutely love this bands albums. i can see why frank felt so threatened by kim. she was a better songwriter than he was.

i really do believe that.

i would still marry kim deal even though she now looks like my fat aunt madaleine.

Gosh, yeah, I'm sorry, was Kelley the one with the Heroin addiction and Kim was more into alcohol? I always get the drug habbits of those rock stars confused. I just remember an interview with one of them around the time Splash came out (and I assumed it was Kim), where she stated what a groovy thing heroin was and that it should be legal, everone should be able to enjoy it and she wrote her best songs on heroin, which I found a bit questionable.
As for Title TK
I still can't help feeling that they've ran out of ideas with that one. Otherwise they wouldn't have recycled an Amps tune without adding anything significantly new that would justify such a choice.
