A friend of mine bought a DVD of a show from whatever tour this was. It is one of the funniest things I have ever seen. If I recall correctly, there is a little laser show on stage, in addition to the giant mechanical dragon.

I've long wondered if Elf betrays Dio's Georgia roots more blatantly than his bands that followed. I would be interested in hearing Dio front a Southern-fried boogie band. Anyone care to comment on Elf?

Elf (esp the self-titled first record) is all pretty solid, southern boogie rock, little heavy on the piano at times, but Dio himself is pretty good. The first record is pretty much worth for "Hoochie-Koochie Lady" alone, imho, however, yr right in stating the records are twice (or more) expensive then they have any right to be. At least as enteraining, if not more, then yr average Wet Willie record.

I also find myself mostly allegric to Blackmore, but dammit if Rainbow's Rising isn't one seriously hot shit record. The first record has "Man on The Silver Mountain" and little else.

I love the Dio era Black Sabbath records, only partially because I really can't stand Ozzy.

the Dio of the 80s is fun, stupid, crap. I can't honestly say I have heard a record post-85 though

I saw Dio in 98 waaaaay out in the 'burbs and the show was awesome, a medium sized club, plenty of Sabbath songs, great stage banter (in fact Dio threaten to beat-up an audience memeber), the music was...ok, but the show was wonderful.

I have always had a soft-spot for Dio, the Underdog.

Christ.

EDIT: If somebody has some space and bandwidth to spare, and since we all want to touch the rainbow, I have got the making of Hear'n Aid featuring Ronnie James Dio, Eric Bloom, Don Dokken, Geoff Tate, Rob Halford, Paul Shortino, Yngwie Malmsteen, KK Downing, Carlos Cavazo, et alii, available for your viewing pleasure. Yes, it's very good. Your band practices will never be the same.

dokken: not so... smooth.

You should be able to seed it with this. Perhaps you had that in mind?

Sounds like a great video!

Tell us when it's ready.
