That was one of the first songs I ever covered. Others that I can think of:

Number One Cup - "Divebomb"
Shove - "Grounded"

Then we realized that we were picking songs that were too obscure. No one knew what they were and thought they were our own songs. "Hey, nice set! I really liked that one song..."

Pavement - Hit the Plane Down

That last one we did the day after JFK jr died. It went over great. The only other time I've killed a room like that was last weekend when I karaoked "And When I Die" by Blood sweat and tears.

The Cars - Just what I needed
The Rolling Stones - gimmie shelter

I know a band that has done this at a wedding.....by request.

My band plays/has played:
Queen "Tie Your Mother Down"
Cheap Trick "Southern Girls"
Cheap Trick "Surrender" (whenever the crowd is really lethargic, this always works)
Cheap Trick "Cry Cry"
Cheap Trick "I Dig Go-Go Girls"
Cheap Trick "He's A Whore" (yeah, we really like CT)
Crazy Elephant "Gimmie Gimmie Good Lovin"
Wildhearts "My Baby Is A Headfuck"
Dictators "Stay With Me"
Radio Alarm Clocks "Confidentially Renee"
Raspberries "I Don't Know What I Want"
Kiss "Strutter"

I know there are more, especially including the wedding we played a year and a half ago. Drunken aunts love "My Sharona", and so do I.

I'd love to pull out more covers from the wedding gig, like "Come On Down To My Boat" by Every Mother's Son, but I don't think I can talk the other guys into it. My cover goal is to someday get a respectable live version of "It's Late" by Queen together.

Oh yeah, we play originals too.

One night we played The Beatles' "I Want You (She's So Heavy)" for shits and giggles. That was fun.

Yes, I've sang that one hundreds of times. A real crowd pleaser.

The Raspberries tribute to the Who!

I've sang "Tonight" by them many times. People don't seem to recognize it, and think it's an original. I could only wish!

I've done "September Gurls" as well. I'm a real pop-rock freak, and my voice is well suited to it.

I had that happen with the Wildhearts song we cover, had a live review written that referred to it as one of our own.

I love "Tonight", I've wanted to cover that for years but I suck at singing it. I'm gonna keep trying though, I won't quit until I can channel Eric Carmen.

I have sent the two covers we (Danger Adventure) did to the gmail account.

1) (En)Joy to the World
2) On Eagles/Wings

we only did the first live. the second was for a compilation that I don't think has seen the light of day. For a band that never really did covers during our six year run, we did choose two songs about Jesus for some reason or another.

Covered Scratch Acid's "Cannibal" with Lazar Wolf. The tape machine was busted so the recording sounds really weird and scary. I'm proud! The little guitar solo is badass (hi, Krystfosky!).
