I myself own an original NT1. I got it for 170 bucks new. It's actually a great little performer and not just for its price point. I'd recommend it. But for a little bit more I'd get a nice dyanamic like an SM7, RE20 or MD421. These are dynamics that can be applied to many sound sources, usually with favorable results. Where as a cheap condenser will let you know how finicky it can be.
