Also, Neil's drumming and lyrics just *do not* do it for me.
But I still have a soft spot for them. John Rutsy left them so long ago (right after the first record) that I consider this to be the original three members working into their 4th decade.
That's a hell of an accomplishment.
And it's not like they're Foghat, playing BBQs and Harley Day, they are filling stadiums and gaining new fans.
Good for them. I really mean that.
I agree with Milford, they look like they are having a good time to me. Shit man, they 're all in their 50's. What did you expect, ass-less pants, flash pots and high kicks?
I shudder to think of what DLR is going to try if the VH reunion ever really happens.
When I think fondly of the band, it's the "new wave" record, Permanant Waves, that comes to mind. It's got some weird textures on it and it represents the last phase of theirs that I can defend. They "went 80's" two albums later, just like every other band, and it didn't suit them well.
Congrats to Rush for keeping it together, writing their own songs, making their fans happy while still being decent guys, and doing what they love. Honestly, I'm jealous.

well said.
Their fans are annoying (present co. incl.). They're cheesey "musician's music", 12-year-old mentality, They're a little out-of-touch... Their albums seem to get heavier which is good... but the production and vocal delivery seems to get worse and worse... but they seem to be still having a blast.
I love them... still
I actually favor their keyboard drenched "New Wave" albums: Moving Pictures, Signals and Grace under Pressure... even Power Windows.
Yeah, I really love these guys...
you all can suck a dick.
