You probably wouldn't put me on the guest list anyway. (Tear rolls down pale white chubby midwestern boy's face).

Oh yes I would. ;)

last time i saw them at maxwell's in hoboken and they absolutely destroyed the place. definitely in my top 3 shows i've ever seen.

EDIT:
Next Fri. at Irving Plaza (still can't call it the Fillmore) and Sat. at Luna Lounge.

Going with a few pals, gonna stand in the back and laugh at the 15 year olds, and then cry because we are three times their age.

then i will laugh at you because i am 2/3 your age. haha.
thanks for the info and the heads up, i'm trying to see which one i'm going to go to.

They played in Israel almost half a year ago. that was insane. best show I've ever seen(I haven't seen much).

Porn played with them as well and was cool, but nothing like Big Business or Melvins.

Coadie was really dense when it was just him, actually, he tore the batter head of his kick drum after like 5 minutes of playing. he was LOUD. He also had a great sound, the way his kick and cymbals interacted was amazing, up until he had to switch to a different kick, which was smaller and kinda bummed me. I didn't care to wait until he replaces his kick head. anyhow, this show was really insane.

no, im not going to see the melvins at the double door.

Sorry for the plug but maybe some MELVINS FANS are interested. Past Saturday I booked a show at the SubT with a band called Double Negative. Their drummer, Brian Walsby, book called Manchild 3 will be available soon with a Melvins CD.

Here's the details:

BRIAN WALSBY'S MANCHILD 3/MELVINS MAKING LOVE DEMOS PRE-ORDER INFORMATION. at 19:40 GMT by brian

BFM026 BRIAN WALSBY: MANCHILD 3 (BOOK)/THE MELVINS: MAKING LOVE DEMOS (CD)

Elder punk/art statesman Brian Walsby is back with another stinging slab of satirical comic art. In this new collection, Brian applies his fine tuned illustrative skill and wit to the following masterpieces: The Melvins 2006 Tour Diary, Life After Black Flag, SCTV: The Best Goddamn Comedy Show Ever, Magical Melvins Moments, Hang The DJ, Careers of the Black Flag My War Puppet, How I Survived Grunge, Rules For Young Rock Bands On TV, Whatever Became of Your Favorite Punk Rock Mascots, Rodney On the Rock, Well Meaning White Guilt, and many others.

Oh yeah... MANCHILD 3 comes with a Melvins CD. The Making Love Demos is a collection of 8 unreleased tracks recorded by the band in 1987. While the original master tapes have long since
disappeared, It just so happens that Mr. Walsby was given a copy of this recording back in ‘88 and held onto it just for this very moment. We’ve had the whole thing mastered and tweaked for your
listening/collecting pleasure. It’s still raw as hell, but we like it that way. Four of these songs were re-tooled and recorded for the Ozma record. Four of them exist only on this CD.

2000 copies available October, 9 2007. Pre-orders will go out a week or 2 before the stores get them.

Here is the e-mail address for Bifocal Media:

thanks,
Brian Walsby and Charles Cardello

Your kindness to strangers will be repaid someday. Maybe I can make the next one. How many handjobs does it cost to get into one of those there things?

*** possible spoiler - but possibly not because setlists could vary ***

One of the things early in the Melvins set that caught me off guard was a cover of "I Wanna Hold Your Hand"... fairly normal, except that in the verses:

instead of this:

"Yeah you, got that something"
(nuh-nuh-nuh-nuh-nuh!)
"I think you'll understand..."

it went like this:

"Yeah you, got that something" [original tempo]
(NUUHH! NUUHH! NUHUH! NUHUH! NUUHH!) [tempo slows]
"I think you'll understand..." [back to original tempo]

I'm sitting there thinking "Haven't I heard this arrangement/variation somewhere before?" and after a little while the light bulb went on over my head and I did remember.

That same arrangement/variation was employed on the Moving Sidewalks (pre-ZZTop Billy Gibbons) album 'Flash' (well actually just on the reissue CD as a bonus track, that is - not from the original album) - which is plausible since Melvins have covered some ZZ Top in the past...(?)

So there's that for a mini-trivia-nugget.

Dear fellow forum users/abusers, do you see what this guy did? He took an ordinary thread about the Melvins and hijacked it to spout on about his own event (I kid). Very clever. Now, who's with me for some Melvins?
