I once saw Eleventh Dream Day open for Thomas Mapfumo in East Lansing, Michigan around 1991; great show, but both acts were good in very different ways. I also saw Kurtis Blow open for the Clash in 1983, and the punks in Grand Rapids, such as they were, were damn puzzled when Kurtis threw down with "The Breaks."

Swamp Dogg opened for Humble Pie for 4 dates in 1971 at the Fillmore. Always thought those would be 4 awesome nights.

Speaking of odd Bills, I've always wondered how/why James Butler Hickock wound up known as Wild Bill.
