The only other sandwich combo I can do is honey.
I like to add a large spoonful of peanut butter to my oatmeal each morning, along with some maple syrup and berries.

Of the available options, the classic PB&J wins for me, but...

13peanut butter, mayonnaise, and mustard (yellow mustard only).
Nobody here likes mayonnaise though. Even real mayonnaise has always gotten short shrift on the PRF and I've never understood that, but whatever.

14I like mayonnaise. I don't even require it to be handmade. I even get the old southern tradition of mixing it into natural peanut butter. What I don't get is, mixing it with modern peanut butter that's already been smoothed out with hydrogenated oil.djimbe wrote: Thu Jun 24, 2021 6:41 am peanut butter, mayonnaise, and mustard (yellow mustard only).

15Which reminds me - peanut paste only. Nothing but pure crushed peanut. Stir up all that oil that has risen by the time you next open it.biscuitdough wrote: Thu Jun 24, 2021 7:13 am I like mayonnaise. I don't even require it to be handmade. 16Mayonnaise is amazing. We use it all the time, and in places you wouldn't usually find it, but with peanut butter? The fuck is going on here?djimbe wrote: Thu Jun 24, 2021 6:41 am peanut butter, mayonnaise, and mustard (yellow mustard only).

Peanut butter is a fantastic Ice Cream flavor.

18The only ingredients that should be listed on a jar of peanut butter are peanuts and salt. And salt isn't entirely necessary. Anything else and it's wrong.A_Man_Who_Tries wrote: Thu Jun 24, 2021 7:17 amWhich reminds me - peanut paste only. Nothing but pure crushed peanut. Mayonnaise is just fine.

Re: Peanut butter and...
19I have two kinds of peanut butter in the house, always.
Natural PB with nothing but peanuts in it gets used for most things, but when I want a simple peanut butter sandwich, I often don't want that.
The nostalgia of PB sandwiches is too strong for me to want a grown up, elevated version - gimme that shit that is half sugar, and put it on white bread.
Adding jam/jelly or banana I start to go back the other way and go with the natural, better bread, whatever.
While a grilled cheese sandwich can turn into a rich, gourmet thing of beauty, these is some evil magic that makes Kraft singles on Wonder bread awesome.
I think a lot of things are like this. Another thread "things that are better shitty".
I also love mayonnaise.

20If on a sandwich, I tend to be a traditionalist (i.e. lame) and go with grape jelly.
Otherwise, I'll have it with a milk chocolate bar or bunny (if around Easter).
Not generally a fan of mayo unless it is on a BLT or in egg salad or potato salad.
