Does she do aggressive vocals?Mickey242 wrote: Fri Sep 09, 2022 6:58 pm Second the M-88. I let my sister barrow mine and she wont give it back, it's "Part of my sound". She is at least in a functional band so that's something to be proud of.

12^ actually it's very dynamic which I found to be strange because she's kind of a loud mouth. I'm just pissed I have to buy a M-88. What I really want is a Sennheiser u441 but that like three month pay.

14I traded an m88 for a re20 about 15 years ago and always regretted it. Always found the re20 to not be worth the hassle of trying to keep a clip on it. They sound fine but honestly never in a wY that made me prefer it over Evan a 57 or another decent t dynamic. Then the foam became an issue I switched it our and the re20 even sounded less fun. I just bought another m88 to go back to and if I had to choose between the two ... m88 all day every day.
Aside, re20 is way too big for snare which is ironically probably where it is best suited. I can't figure these mics out.

15I think they're best for what they're made for: broadcast mics. Other applications are just attempts to stretch their use beyond their value.Kniferide wrote: Sat Sep 10, 2022 3:07 am I traded an m88 for a re20 about 15 years ago and always regretted it. 16I feel the same about an SM7b. Just not that exciting of a mic and has a lot of hype behind it. IMO a SM57 gets you 89% there and is easier to place. A lot of other mics I'd rather spend 3-400 bucks on.ChudFusk wrote: Sat Sep 10, 2022 1:42 pmI think they're best for what they're made for: broadcast mics. 17Yeah I could never get myself to spring for an SM7b because I've been perfectly happy with other mics. If I was running a commercial studio I'd definitely have one just because people are sheep, but the only thing that makes them special is their deep internal baffle and there are cheaper mics which do the same thing.Kniferide wrote: Sat Sep 10, 2022 6:25 pmI feel the same about an SM7b. 18I have RE-20s, SM7s, SM5s, M88s, 441s, and 421s, They all sound great.
I love you.

19Would you ever use a Re-20 under a snare?Kniferide wrote: Sat Sep 10, 2022 3:07 am I traded an m88 for a re20 about 15 years ago and always regretted it.
