On their studio albums, the basic tracks are, yes. Though I'm positive that there's overlapping of takes and looping, some minimal overdubbing of flourishes, and other creative mixing choices applied à la what Teo Macero was known to do to recordings during Miles Davis' fusion era. Like, there’s no way Hanging Gardens was performed and done in just a single live take.

From what I've read they play to sets live, one more mellow/atmospheric set and one more aggressive set. They usually begin with total silence and see who breaks first, who plays the first sound. So they kind of have a plan, but it is full improv.

On the albums they do have some overdubs and some sound design involved, mostly involving the piano and keyboards.

Yeah, I think I’ve heard guitar on one of their records as well. Maybe it was one of the synth doodads, but I don’t think so.
