When I hear the word chiropractor, I immediately think of Robbie Basho.
That's covered in this clip around 1 hour 14 minutes. I vaguely remember from earlier in the movie he had some old football injuries so it may have been a combination of those things:

I worked with someone whose husband was a chiropractor. She thought this qualified her as one (maybe it does), and I saw her making "adjustments" to people.
Crap.

I agree that there is a hell of a lot to be said for regular exercise, stretching, strength training, good posture, better sleeping habits, etc., but I've been a half dozen times or so over the last 20 years and it's been incredibly helpful. It's almost always a case where a run of bad sleeping and/or poor work posture sets something up that I can't quite correct on my own, and chiro gives a nice reset.
Not crap for me, but plenty of waffles for the disturbing ratio of frauds drawn to the profession.

Tried one out 10 years ago and dude was a joke, he'd sorta vaguely move his hands around on my back for 15 minutes then charge me a bunch of money. Didn't help at all so I stopped going.
Conversely, I see a massage therapist once a month now and she is a godsend, has made a huge difference for me. When I first started seeing her, she said my back/shoulders were "a disaster", and they definitely were. She fixed me right up.

I went to one for a while when I was like 12-13 because I used to get bad migraines back then and they claimed to be able to cure them. They just kinda went away on their own after I got past puberty and it seemed like it was just quackery to me that also made it even easier for my spinal column to get outta wack.
I had better luck with more acute issues when I went to an actual doctor of osteopathy.
And even more success waaaayyy later with actually working out to strengthen my back muscles and improve my posture. And also just seeing a PT for a bit when I tweaked my back and it seemed definitely to just be a muscle thing, like it wasn't a pinched nerve. I still do some of those exercises when I sense things may get sore there again and it heads it off pretty well.

Most chiropractors are quacks, especially the ones that call themselves nutritionists.
However, my caveat is that there are some good chiropractors. I once threw out my back and I went to a chiropractor who was more like a doctor and he didn't perform any magic, other than helping get my muscles to calm down and I was able to stand up strait after seeing him. He didn't cure me (nor did he suggest he was), he just got me mobile enough to move and gave me the number of a physical therapist.

Quacks. A basic 15 min daily regimen of stretching or just straight up yoga is better than any shit they pretend to do and free. Hell, situps and pushups alone are better for your back than these weirdos

Just another reminder of how criminal America’s handling of its healthcare system is - but if chiropractors are as expensive as some FMs are saying, why not start with actual physical therapy first? At least we know that stuff works, though with the usual caveats that vary from case to case.
