Have spent a little bit of time this afternoon looking at some of her videos playing with Jeff Beck (her sanitized "official" videos are of her playing by herself with a backing track and aren't always in sync with the audio.... eww).

I see how this could work really well.

Can't wait to hear her play "Anthem"...

I mean, why not, you know?

Also, did I understand correctly that Ged is passing the mic to someone else for vox?

The video from the band implies they will be touring with a keyboard player. Haven’t heard anything about someone else singing.

When I worked Pizza in the 90's in college, the other dudes were all metal and prog dudes, and we each loved each other, but hated each others music. Rush made me want to jump in the boiling water with the spagetti and just get this shit to its inevitable end.

Crap. 100%. No Waffles.
They pretty much activate a gag reflex with my girlfriend. She gets mad whenever we’re listening to a classic rock station and they come on. I have to ask her permission to finish listening to the song. I’ve never seen anyone hate something the way she hates Rush.

Fortunately, she doesn’t judge me for my love of Rush. I learned to play bass by playing along to Rush and Iron Maiden songs. They’re in my DNA.

I saw them in...'84 or '85 ? Merrilion opened and my mates wanted to see them and needed to unload a ticket. The music didn't suck but the drunk fuckers near us did.

I work with a guy who thinks they're the greatest trio in rock and roll history and I'm like "Jimi Hendrix Experience" and 5 or 6 other bands. And he looks clueless. Yeah, he's a tone lawyer with stupid pointy guitars and no tubes in his chain...

They've got some great tunes - "Limelight," "Spirit of the Radio," the aforementioned (and Peart-less) "Working Man" - but I vastly prefer them as a late night radio surprise on a long drive. I think I tried to listen to an album once and lost patience way too quickly, and further exposure to dogshit like "The Trees" took the wind outta their sails.

They're kind of wedged into that summer school/aged 13 thing, like U2. Both bands seem insufferable now, but there's still some nostalgia and respect for the game.

Excellent. A perfect cap to an otherwise uneventful day.

Not to pick nits, but Neal Peart was not their drummer when they recorded that album. I'm not a Rush guy either but I enjoy a handful of the early hits. Working Man is my favorite song by them. I have been in a band for nearly 18 years now with one of Rush's biggest fans (FM Dave N,) and I can't tell you how many times we've been dicking around at practice, jamming to warm up, whatever, and I think we've come up with something that has potential, only for us to finally stop and Dave tells me it's a Rush song. I have probably made dozens of skronky guitar parts to Rush songs without knowing I was doing so. Having said that, I am in full favor of them deciding to carry on. I read the statement release by the band today where I believe it was Geddy Lee who said, "We fucking miss it" and I have to admit I had a tear in my eye due to the sincerity of the sentiment. I am truly happy to see them carry on. I believe those fellows don't have a mean bone in their bodies and I hope they have a fucking blast in this next chapter.
