interesting that "safe" seems to mean more like "okay" then what i expected, which would be for it to be short for "safe home", which i like a lot and think of as an only-slightly-less-geeky expression than "godspeed!"
this reminds me of the goodbye i might use most of all, and forgot all about, "get home safe". which i say pretty much every time i'm saying goodbye to someone who is leaving and about to drive home, or if i'm being a supertard, i say to someone as they're exiting my car when i've dropped them off at their home.
i think "get home safe" is the one that makes the most sense to me of all of them. it's the goodbye where i'm always saying exactly what i mean, precisely, literally. it's genuine well-wishing.
