Jesus Christ!!

I forgot to mention two of my old St. Louis local favorites: Man Igno and Phut. Which is weird, because I hung out with them every once in a while. I'd even call them 'friends'...

Man Igno: brilliant, swingy math with distorted keyboard and the loudest hi-hats I've heard to date.

Phut: brilliant trio. Tim Garrigan did some awesome solo stuff later...sort of Bob Dylan with lots of damage added.

Please check out their stuff, if its around. They are great.

have a listen to Kitchens & Bathrooms, who were from Hamilton, Ontario Canada. i don't think their site is up anymore, but info on them, ordering etc is available at the label they were on: http://www.sonicunyon.com

Off the top of my head I can think of a few:

Cyclops 'Second Son of Poseidon' 7" (Splinter 001) -- Really creepy recordings. A soundtrack for an extreme closeup of a slug crawling through salt.

Swob 'The Explosion of Scilence' 7" (Pop Bus 13) -- Great stuff. I guess they hailed from Pittsburgh (?). I heard they were going to put out a full length on Project A Bomb back in the mid 90s but, after getting the vinyl pressed, the label folded.

There are probably many bands like Table, Tetsuo/Brass Knuckles for Tough Guys, and Stickdog that had releases which were widely distributed but somehow fell through the cracks. Labels like Bovine or Satan's Pimp that went grind, etc.

Oh,well, just wondering if I might be able to get turned on to some hip shit from back in the day (or the present).

Just found this thread trying to see if anybody ever said anything about Oh,Beast! on here.

On a lark, I searched the net for an old friend from Columbia college, because I was reminded of his circa-1992 very fucking awesome super-tech-math-metal band Epitaph. You'll not likely ever find their cassette, but if you do, BUY IT IMMEDIATELY.

He later went on to play in Zulu As Kono, and then Oh,Beast! and all the record label and the printing and stuff. His name's Josh. He's originally from a town not far from Chicago. So that answers your question, rayj.

It's so great to see that somebody that was making awesome music 15 years ago has kept at it ever since.

Hey, I know Thomas! Sicbay played a few shows w/ Cheval De Frise in 2004 in France.
That's good news.

One good math rock type band is a band called Command Module from here in St. Paul, MN

Lands Farther East from Bellingham.

They were the first local band that I became a fan of after moving here for college in 2000. I hadn't heard most of the bands they were influenced by (Don Cab, American Football, etc), so I was pretty floored by this band. They had two guitars and a drummer, but the guitars are both super clean, playing intricate arpeggios.

The songs on their page aren't very representative; if anyone wants to hear some more I can put up their album on the Sendspace thread.

I bought a bunch of Zulu and Beast based on another EA thread. Some of it is great, some of it freaks me out. Like the song where he admits to convincing his sister his dick was a popsicle. That was wierd.
