THE HEAVIEST BAND EVER

jucifer live.

the opposite of a band that needs to get beefed up in the studio -- their records don't sound 1/10 as their shows.

her rig sounds at least as heavy as it looks, and it looks like literally around 18 heads and 18 cabs. i think at least three of those cabs are ampeg 8x10s. the sound is the heaviest i have heard from one guitar, by far.

I don't mind the line that sunn o))) rides between serious and parody. I find it both funny and fucking heavy. But if we are going to dispense with sunn o))) due to their borderline satrical metal, which I can somewhat agree with, then I need to point out that the Melvins have ridden that same line for over 20 years. Do we disqualify them as well? And if name matters, how is "The Melvins" any heavier than "sunn o)))"?

So I will throw in a different band for the title, just to humor some of you. I nominate OM as the heaviest band ever.

That's right you fuckers, I now am going with OM as the heaviest band ever.

The end (again).
it's not the length, it's the gersch

I'll go with that, mainly because any mention of Neurosis gives me flashbacks to seeing them in a squat in Hamburg (Rote Flora?) in 1992 or 1993. I was used to weedy ole' punk rock at the time, went along to this gig and experienced my first ribcage rumble as three zombie-chic frontmen bellowed into their mics and struck earthquake chords. I can't remember a single fucking song, but the experience...

Would the Dutch band Gore come anywhere in here? They don't quite do it for me, but perhaps they'd ring someone's bell...

Sunn o))) aren't metal; if they are then so are Earth. They're named after Dylan Carlsson's preferred amp for big feedback riffing yeah? They extrapolate out from where Earth starts, and Earth are very probably Melvins influenced anyway. Melvins are from the same area in the US aren't they? Wasn't there kind of a scene this sort of sound in that area around the early 90s?

OM are too trippy to be heavy.
