What is the larger build?
Larger build will be 1,400 square feet up top with an 850 foot walk-out basement. Garage incoming too. Detached, due to how we're putting this all together and builder timelines. We shifted things around *a lot* in terms of placement and its final setup should be really great.

Cute little front (back?) porch is now done, as are screen doors on the side, just in time for mosquito season. Gravel is incoming to fix the mud / sand pits that are my current driveway and common areas. Landscaping is gonna take some time, and I doubt I'll do anything serious until next spring. We'll move these giant log piles and cut 'em all up to get them into this wood crib and start drying.

Coning together!

Howdy. Big progress begins.

Wood cutting continues. There are multiple piles like this. I'll be lucky if I can get thru it all by winter. Probably 2+ years worth needs to go in the "wet" section of the wood crib. Doing it bit by bit, and a few wood cutting parties planned.

Got sick of waiting for people so I finally said screw it and did some landscaping by myself. I collected about 10% of the mid-sized rocks that were hanging around, and the larger boulders we’ll have to get plucked and set once the back is done. Went and got red granite chucks for super cheap, loaded them onto my trailer in a very “Northwoods” fashion, and shoveled them with a snow shovel like an idiot, but it’s done. I think it looks nice!

How are the bugs?
Not bad. It goes in waves, and I've already learned to respect those waves. One has to remember you literally live in the fucking woods. Akin to car horns in the city. The first few weeks of mosquito season was hellish, but it was kind of worth it to watch the dragonflies do their thing in the coming weeks after that. New respect for those little shits for sure. It's not bad, considering I've done nothing on the back-end (I guess there a lot of things one can do) aside from just putting up on air-vent bug trap.

In floor heat for the basement + concrete for floor / garage slab is done! Sealer will go on today. A Mennonite fella begins the garage build tomorrow.

Bought a gas powered wood splitter. My back is already thanking me.
