Found out the Ampeg runs the 7951A's in Class A, and is cathode biased! It was the first or second amp I ever worked on (my first cap job) so I didn't even know what a cathode was.

It's great for apartment volume, my favorite reverb (none of the slappy plinky sound I associate with Fender) and it breaks up or stays clean or whatever you need. Pretty quiet. Original Jensen, I think. Blue sticker on it. The vibrato is very understated, but usable.

I have the original 7591's, which are the Ampeg-branded Sylvanias, but I've been running it on a pair of EH 7591's. They work.

1965 Ampeg Reverberocket R-12-R-B, I found you in the trash, gave you a cap job, and you sound so nice in my home. Salut!

I converted mine to use 6V6s. When I got it, about 17 years ago, 7591s were unavailable, or you could find NOS for about $75 each. I like it much better, it has a really great overdrive sound now.

I have 6l6's in my head at the moment, does anyone know if I can change to different types of tubes for a little more clean head room and power?

You can. I'm not sure if you can find a much cleaner output tube than the 6L6, though. I have gone the other way in a couple of amps and dropped EL34's in where the 6L6's were, with a little modification. 6550's/etc. might work a little better...I'm not sure.

Which Sunn 412 is this?

Any experience with a Sunn 412L?

Would it be any good for bass?

The 412L would be...OK...but the one that you really want is the 412LH. It would definitely work for bass. Fucking awesome cab. And hard to find.
Oh, and fuck Mars Volta.

it's the sunn 4x12L. i replaced the speakers and it kills. with the sunn 2x15 it sounds like a monster tearing out of my speakers and no loss of bottom.

you have probably never heard a sound more huge.
somebody help me. i can't help myself.
