Wings fan. Glad they're moving on, but it was a disappointing, predictable series. I hope the lack of competition doesn't soften them too much for the Stars.

The entire second round has been soft. Habs pulling it out would make me so happy but that appears unlikely.

That's got to be a league record. So crazy.

Not even close.

So Lemieux scored 16 twice and 11 once. Gretsky scored 12, 13, 15, and 17. Richard and Lalonde both scored 11 once. Since this is round 2, I think it's likely than Franzen will score at least one more and beat Richard and Lalonde. At the very least he's got 4 more games in which to do it, and more likely somewhere over 8.

I don't know if he'll catch Lemieux or Gretsky, but he's looking good so far.

And I'm not seeing a stat on how many of those guys scored 9 goals in 4 playoff games, so it's still possibly a league record.

It is.
Franzen's nine goals in the series matched Colorado's total, and his three goals in Game 4 made him the first player with two hat tricks in one series since Jari Kurri did it for Edmonton in 1985. Franzen's nine goals in a four-game series was also an NHL record, surpassing the previous mark of seven.
Eat me.

Statistically, Franzen is now in the same category as Gretzky and Lemieux. By this one narrow measure.

Dallas (assuming they win) may be able to limit him to a goal, but he's going to be ranked #3 for most goals in a playoff season by the end of it all, possibly even #2. Give the guy his due, since he's probably never going to show up in any other record or trophy.

A couple of those have been pretty sweet goals.

Colorado was playing better in the playoffs than they were in the regular season. I assume by "shell of a team", you mean a different type of shell than the one they were before. They brought what they had, and it wasn't enough.

I'd say Franzen isn't in the same league as Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Lidstrom, or even Holmstrom. This is not even the wing's star player we are talking about here. He sure is playing good hockey these days though. Wings look good, not that I discount their ability to fall apart when things get tough, but they look pretty damn good.

I really wish I was able to see more of the games. NHL was blacking out almost all of the games and not just the ones that coincided with local team broadcasts. I couldn't watch any of the nyr v. njd series.

great win for sj. coming back from a 2-0 deficit to win 3-2 in OT.

The other night while watching the rangers, I was thinking how there wasn't any horrible KO hits to the head, and just a few seconds later orpik takes out jagr.

I still don't understand why someone then didn't run crosby, not to hurt him, but let them know that there are consequences to hitting your best player. later, malkin went around slew footing a bunch of people. rangers need to target gonchar with heavy hits. that'll put a dent in that power play. Malkin is also another player they need to put some hits on.

zetterberg is amazing to watch. he seems like the second coming of yzerman.

morrow from dallas...this guy is always around the puck and plays the game like it is in back yard, crashing into everything with no fear. great player... later versus showed a much better replay of the kicking goal, and it did look like a kicking motion. the second one, I thought that maybe he got a stick on it after it hit him in the glove.

If it came down to detroit v. pittsburgh, i'll be rooting heavily for detroit.

detroit seems to embody everything that is right with the nhl whereas pittsburgh is one of the clear examples of what's wrong. the hype, the league protecting the franchise, the questionable awarding of high draft picks, the ownership threatening to move/sell etc, blackmailing the state to get a new stadium, the pro pittsburgh officiating.

detroit however, builds through low draft picks, (datsyuk, zetterberg, holmstrom) has players who play for entire careers for them, is an original 6 team, and play in a non corporate branded rink.
