A. Justin Chearno, my friend and, very, very briefly, musical collaborator in the 1990s. He and I had barely been in touch over the last decade, but it was always wonderful to correspond w/him or unexpectedly run into one another, as we still shared many of the same interests and some of the same social circle.

Thanks for this. That story is an accurate snapshot of a night out w/that guy in those days. Memories of closing down Max Fish, 2A, the International, or Mars. Drinking and public-access tv at home might have preceded or followed, and, of course, dinner would have also been a quality affair, if much simpler and cheaper in those days. After the night itself, circa 4am, maybe a kebab snack from Bereket, the 24-hour Turkish restaurant, plus an after-hours joint if we were feeling particularly energetic. Lots of raunchy humor, food talk, shit talk, guitar talk. He's forever etched into those good times.

Phil Donahue died a few days ago.
