Louder than Love is a solid record

Oh please! Big Dumb Sex? Full On Kev's Mom?!?! Are you kidding?!
I think I've already spoken about this in the bad lyrics thread, but i'll just say there's a great review of the album in Conflict #51, where G. Cosloy writes:

As our standards get lower and lower, it has come to this: some people believe that this band isn't a complete load of shit. Some people believe that the worn-out, "musician"/metalhead/meathead cliches of our junior high school years were somehow OK, 'cause at least those bands "knew how to rock."
Knowing how to rock means as much to me as tying your shoes. Great, you can do it too, some accomplishment. Partytime head-wag nonsense with no mystery or tension, no rhythmic variation, no lyrical insight, no instrumental prowess beyond what any Sam Ash loser is capable of (the ability to noodle aimlessly while innocent customers wait in line to buy patch cords)... Why is something so incredibly traditional, so utterly generic, seen as the new messiah for a floundering scene? It is because most of you idiots secretly long to go back to junior high when you smoked pot all day and actually understood the simple music you listened to?

While I don't often agree with Cosloy's taste, the review is dead on.

If you were born after 1980 this probably couldn't be avoided, don't go kicking yourself for it. At least you aren't listening to them NOW.

Now, if you bought a Creed album then you have no excuse...

Well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

ELO's Greatest Hits

I have these plus literally 10 other ELO albums (complete album discography minus ELO II, and Zoom). ELO is not embarrassing.

+1

Fuck ELO haters.

i don't hate ELO, i've just gotten dissed over and over for having any of their albums.

the topper: i came out of general anaesthetic after major surgery in 1997 and the nurse and doctor were laughing cos i'd been going on about how great ELO - Time is.

Yeah, born in 1986. I think the reason that I'm embarrassed is that I don't hate the Peppers nearly as much as I think I should. I despise Anthony Kiedis but don't care about the other three dudes. I actually think that Frusciante seems pretty talented. When he's not making Calicoma pussy-rock, that is. All the Peppers albums I own are from the period when they were still interested in funk metal.

I didn't get into Creed for many reasons, but the main one was that I don't dig tenth-rate Vedderclones with Jesus complexes and Republican leanings.
Life...life...I know it's got its ups and downs.
