Just listen to the U2 track I posted, and tell me Radiohead weren’t trying to cop that 3 years later on Kid A.

I am in no way equating their songs or talent, only the chopped & screwed approach to guitar music during their “innovative eras”, which I think is evident.
Sometimes I do shit post for funz and stuff, but this is kinda a wrong way to shit post. I mean, I consider U2 to be an avoidable band in every form of existence (don't really care for the early years too), but I would never put U2 and RH in the same basket, any phase being comparable.
Nothing major here. Just a regular EU cock. I pull it out and there is beans all over my penis. Bean shells all over my penis...

I’m solidly on the left but the contemporary habit of purity testing every artist on social media is kind stupid.

It’s okay to listen to a band and never hear their opinion.

If they want to, shoot, but if I really like a band unless they’re proposing eating babies, I can still enjoy the music. I don’t think I’ve ever heard Kim Deal’s opinion about anything… no one is shaming her on social media.

The Glastonbury post comments this year are ludicrous

And before you lay into me, I’m not saying bands shouldn’t express their opinions on politics. Just if they don’t I don’t care. Some very popular bands are thick as mince, so not hearing every utterance is probably for the best.

before i heard one note of chappell roan's music or seen her face i was made aware of the backlash her own fans were giving her because she failed to campaign for kamala harris or transgender rights strongly enough.

i figured she must have done/said something to deserve that attitude, but i couldn't come up with anything even in my head.

This is a good point. I saw a post from Reggie Watts saying that Yorke's open letter/post was all wrong because he made it about him ("When challenged at a concert I was not prepared to make a coherent statement so now my silence is being filled by people saying I'm a zionist" or whatever). People who've poured many minutes into parsing how Yorke may have criticized Netenyahu but fails to acknowledge the greater/historical blah, blah, blah are wasting their intelligence on how mid that pop singer's take was.

Do you know what Cormac McCarthy used to say about a two state solution? I don’t, and I'm sure if he ever said anything hashing it out won't spell progress for the region, or enhance enjoyment of his writing.

Except Radiohead has very deep ties to Israel and spent a long time name dropping Chomsky and sort of capitalizing on Occupy Wall Street energy and such during their heyday. I read Naomi Klein as a kid because of them.

Pretty much any band who plays shows in Israel is getting, from bands like Big Thief (I think the homie that left was in the IDF) and ofc Nick Cave. Thom Yorke is uniquely stupid so it’s kind of been a PR disaster for him.

Go back and read interviews from around OK Computer and on.

Also I think anyone who bumps the Sam Harris thread is weird on Islam in general.

Also a lot of nerve to bring up Kim Deal when you’re talking about another much bigger band playing miles away from an open air prison camp before it was bombed into rubble. Not the same at all and it’s being willfully obtuse to pretend that it is.

I can almost guarantee Cormac McCarthy would be terrible on Israel and Palestine. Too many degrees close to Epstein to pretend otherwise.

You’re kind of missing the point.

I said anyone is welcome to express any opinions they like. Obviously opinions have consequences.

The point I’m making is nitpicking someone else’s clumsy socials posts or calling out someone for not saying anything is at best counterproductive at worst dumb… in my opinion. Others are available.

If you think that BDS is the way forward, totally your right. You and anyone has the same right to feel pissed when Edgelord Nicolas Cave basically plays in Israel to own the libs.

But that wasn’t really the point I was making. I just don’t think we need to hear the opinion of every artist on the Two State Solution anymore than they need to give their opinion on the Trans-Amazonian Highway.

What does C.C. DeVille think about the plight of the Uyghurs? I don’t fucking care.
