Mama Clortho wrote:Al was fantastic tonight.Walked out to the Sopranos theme song. Dude is the best.Whole card was GREAT. Really, no real bummers. Al controlled the whole match, even when it looked like he was gonna get choked out. He didn't look shook. 12-29, y'all! Gonna be nuts!

What are people's thoughts on Gustafsson as a fighter? I've been catching up on Israel Adesanya's background and interviews. I guess he's an easy fighter to like given his moves and speed, but I really dig him. I listened to the Joe Rogan episode with him and Rogan interrupts and dominates conversation more than Marc fucking Maron does. Brutal. Get out of the fucking way and let the guy speak. He's the interesting one, not you. Lanky Nigerian dude via New Zealand, with a cool blended accent, who trained for years in China, hated being a wage-laborer, is a former dancer, has a tattoo of Africa and the words "Broken Native" on his chest, and has moves and speed like no one on his feet ("goes into God mode"). He doesn't just have "high fight IQ" -- he seems smart and thoughtful in general. I don't think he's faced a top-notch grappler yet? The Anderson Silva fight would be more interesting if Silva wasn't 41 and 1-4 in recent fights.

Israel Adesanya is like a refracted version of Silva! They have such similar styles. In my heart, I want Silva to win in spectacular Silva fashion. Gustafsson, honestly, I've only seen two fights he's had. Looking forward to the 29th.

Yeah on one hand Israel is talented as fuck and something a little different, but I totally want to see 43 year old Anderson Silva rise and knock the conceit out him. Would be glorious. That fight is happening in Melbourne -- Same card as Whittaker/Gastelum. I really want to go, but it's...very expensive. To be honest I'm a lot more excited about Nunes/Cyborg then JJ/Gustasson. Massive Nunes fan. Don't know if it's possible, but i want to see her beat Cyborg so bad.

43 not 41, you're right. He wears glasses when not fighting, hey. So is he visually impaired in the cage? I can't imagine fighters wearing contacts during a fight. Laser eye surgery is obviously the solution but then why the glasses?

Said recently that the hardest, most stressful part of fighting was getting cleared by the doctor during weigh ins. Always just scraped through.Incedentally, he fought Silva pretty recently and Anderson came to fight that night. Worth watching if you ve not seen it.

Incredible win. Mind blowing. Love that the greatest women s fighter of all time also seems as if she could put a curse on you.Highlight of the main event was the ref, Mike Beltran, tenderly embracing Gus after the loss. Wish I could find a picture of it. Was quite beautiful! Not sure what to say about Jon Jones. Really don t like the guy but can t look away. Psychopath? Lance Armstrong. God hat etcI wanted Carlos Condit to win.
