I had to do this to mine a few
years back and the foam had turned into a sticky tar that got EVERYWHERE. Almost completely a thick liquid. I had to alcohol bath everything and even carefully brush the diaphragm with a alcohol/water solution to get it all off. Mic has never quite been the same. It is fine at moderate level but if you hit it hard it has a slight little ratty buzz. It's annoying, so I almost never use it anymore.

When I repaired mine I followed a video where a guy explained the whole process. Obviously on some of these mics the capsule is no longer centered. You can repair that as well but it looked pretty tricky. Maybe that’s the problem with yours??

Just watched a video of Dave Rat doing a fix that I am not interested in getting into. I will fuck that up.

I never really liked the mic that much so nah. maybe I'll just slide a SM75 down the barrel so it LOOKS like I'm using a cool mic.
