With porcupines, the pricks are on the outside.

It hasn’t happened yet but Jim Kimball is evidently very ill and about to be transferred to a hospice.

If you anyone here knows Jim or his family and friends pass on some kindness.

Brannon just posted on IG that Jim passed away. Life of Crime and Can’t Pray a Lie are such incredible records that travel on the back of Kimball’s playing, just ferocious. He made an awesome contribution to those Mule records as well. He had a short lived thing with UO Eddie called LIME, who played once in Boston and they were very good too. Hung out with him for a bit then and he was super nice to everyone.

I think his time in tJL was an unfortunately tough place to be in, in part because of the shoes he filled but also because the band had kinda plateaued in popularity by then.

A very powerful and recognizable player that I’m going to miss. RIP, Jim Kimball.

Damn. Powerful is an understatement.

He was out of the Hyenas by the time I saw them (obviously, b/c of records he played on; never got into Mule or the post-Liar Jesus Lizard). But I did catch him later on as part of Foetus's touring band. And his drumming was by far the best thing about that show. A real talent. RIP.
