I absolutely love its bell, but I would rather have it in a crash-ey position (plus mine cracked and I want to get it lathed down to 20"/19"'s or so). I havent played another cymbal with a bell that sounds as nice as this one. I've been staring at paiste 2002 24" rides for a while, but the price is seriously offputting.Cymbals are crazy expensive now. I think I paid over $300 for an Istanbul crash a few years ago. Really dig it, though. Cymbals aren't like drums where you can tinker around with the sound by getting new heads and messing with tunings. So it's worth shopping around and getting ones you really like. Are you a regular cymbal-breaker? Makes a big difference in whether it's "worth it" to lay down big money on your brass, I've found. The cymbal I Want to get is going to be in a really low ride position so I Wont be crashing it at much. Basically want to have three cymbals, one large ride with a really really good bell that is nearly at the level of the floor tom, then two slightly smaller, thinner rides in crashey positions anywhere between 19 and 21".In terms of breaking cymbals, both of the cymbals that came with my drumkit (a 15 or 16" paiste crash and a 21" RBDR) both have cracks in them now, but they both had pretty heavy use. I play with butt ends a lot, though I think I might stop doing that except at shows and recording.

These would probably cost you less than a good used pair on CL:http://mycymbal.com/index.php?main\_page=product\_info&products\_id=10766&zenid=m1338mhkce0vbq7lo1r59e3km7If you aren't too picky, look for Sabian B8 Pro hats used. They're a little 'chunky' sounding, but not bad for hats you can probably get for under $100.

I've been rethinking my use of heavy cymbals. Ive realized that for a lot of the stuff I do I get a bit too spastic for using my 24" ride. Its uses are just so specific Ive realized. I just need something that crashes easier than my secondary 20" ride cymbal that I use for a crash. I always feel sorta sketchy using heavyish cymbals as crashes because of how brittle they can be.

Still use them. They're not bad, the crash is actually pretty good as are the hats. They ride is 'ok', I can't really put my finger on it but it seems a bit bland...? not enough zing...?
