Review:
This is one of the most fun pieces of gear I own, it is also one of the most frustrating, yet inspiring. I have only owned it 2 weeks, but this is going to be a weird journey I can tell.
Any update on this? Also didn’t we have a synth thread in the before times? Should we create a new one? Surely there are some more synth folks here.
Yeah it is super fun, but wow it has a learning curve. I love it and hate it all at once.

I got my Electrical DI in the mail. I don't know how it sounds. It's very pretty. It will sit on my desk for months, and I will enjoy looking at it immensely. The logo sitting proud is real classy - it will impress all of my guests. (I have none currently) At some point, I will need to record synth and I will be convinced that this beautiful red box will impart some kind of magic, and maybe it will. Or I will bring it to a 'big show' that I'm 'sure' I will be playing sometime, and the sound man's helper (big shows have them) will say "Do you have a DI?" and I'll whip this red rocket out of my bag and the sound man's helper will be impressed, oh they'll be impressed. They will pass on how cool I am. They will tell the sound man how good at bass gear I am. How knowledge having of recording and sound I am. My power grab complete, the monitor mix will be available to me, the bass player, to be changed at whim through hand signals and nods. Worth every penny.

I have the Bridge City one. Was the only thing I could afford from them! Never used it because I still don't know how it works! Looks great though.

Boss BD 2 Blues Driver, bought on a whim after a clearout.

You are not the low gain OD I was expecting. With a SS amp, the clipping threshold make you more like a polite fuzz. With gain below 9 or above 3, I think we will get along.

JHS Spring Tank - you are lovely. The boost is a great addition, and the second switch to toggle between two degrees of the same setting makes you ideal for me. I haven't experimented with putting other pedals in your effects loop, and to be honest, I don't know if I ever will. Glad to have a set-and-forget, rather than the endless fiddling the Ocean's 11 encourages.

Got a Strymon Irridium from MoreSpaceEcho (thank you!) and it's doing exactly what I hoped - giving me and my spouse a device to play in headphones with the dynamics of playing a good practice amp in a room that also sounds better than the sanitary surfaces of a hospital room. I already had one at work but the first night it showed up I played guitar sitting on the floor for two hours and it's been awhile since I've done that. Fun! It also indicates to me how much an AC30-like amp is is needed in my life. The amount of controls are really the sweet spot for flexibility without too much to get mired in. I have synths for that. I wanna rock. It lets me rock, how I wanna rock, when I wanna rock.

I recently upgraded an amplifier I use with my record player and tower speakers to a Marantz NR1200. I specifically was looking for a moderately powered 2.1 stereo amp with eARC capabilities. It also has built in phono, probably nothing to write home about, but the amp it replaced didn't have phono and I no longer need the extra preamp. More important was the eARC capabilities, because it will also be hooked up to a 4k GoogleTV and I really just wanted the TV to control the amp power and volume. I mostly use the TV to listen to Spotify during the day when I'm workng. If we're hanging with friends, we use the record player or watch movies. I no longer need two remotes for everyday use, and I don't have to buy and program a universal remote. Big win there.

The NR1200 has a lot going for it for the price. The HDMI hub is one of the most interesting features, even though I don't plan on using it. It has HEOs and is Bluetooth enabled, with WiFi network capabilities that are actually useful. Again, probably won't be using most of those features, but nonetheless this amp is built for modern times and can handle whatever you throw at it.

On top of all those modern features, it provides 75w per channel and powers my Paradigm tower speakers no problem. I was immediately impressed with it and have no regrets.
