I don't put a whole lot of faith in Guitar Center but I would bet it was probably an over-worked / stoned employee biffing the inventory.

Or an employee snatched it up and then biffed the inventory. That's a possibility, too.

I ordered some used mics from a GC and the package got disappeared in transit, after I got my refund, the mics showed back up on the used listings on their site. I called and they assured me they don't have them anymore. I think their used inventory system is probably just trash and/or mismanaged.

Their point of sale is a rickety and ancient system that reminds me of my time in 00s RadioShack.

Whoops, bought an Ovation Magnum

https://reverb.com/item/93403213-ovatio ... tural-used

I had a Magnum III for a while, played the shit out of it, then sold it after I got my Rick.

This one is gonna need some work, but the bones are solid. Early serial number, so probably dates from 74 or 75. The headstock break is only on the "wing" at the E string tuner. The glue joint is kinda ugly, but I think I can clean it up with a dremel and some wood filler. Not sure if I'm going to do a whole refin or just clean up the headstock and maybe respray the neck.

The bridge needs a couple of new brass saddles. Somebody tried to carve their own with a saw and file. I should be able to model those up in AutoCAD and have them machined somewhere.

I picked up a strat at GC today and was immediately taken. 2018 Tobacco burst, HSS, made in mexico with fender locking tuners added and a spectacular feeling trem for $550.

I traded in a squire and got out of there for $325.

It's in absolute mint condition, which I kinda wish it weren't lol. The frets feel brand new and i can't find so much as a finish indentation on this thing that's like 7 years old. There was still some shrink/peel plastic around the pickguard screws!

The neck is also fantastic - it feels was less waxy than that squire did. Closer to my old les paul in that regard.

I justify this by saying my other xmas shopping is already done and paid for.

Kind of an odd duck in this thread:

I'm about to pick up a tenor saxophone as a rental.

I've been playing the alto since I was a boy, but tenor was always cooler, they just stick little kids on the alto. I have a few unusual things coming up where I'm part of a pickup horn section for particular gigs and they've already got an alto nerd. I was just gonna jump to buy one and then realized a mid-grade horn is like $2-3k. Not like guitars. We'll see if I get tempted to save up all the fun money for my own horn after these shows.

Since the Sony wasn’t happening I lowballed an offer for a at4060 and it was accepted this morning. Those mics have been listed and selling for uncomfortably close to $1k used lately so at least got my pair before people caught up to them. I feel like they are the best mics ever for ~$600 - they sort of flatter the voice without veering into modern pop weirdness but still sound good on literally every source I’ve tried them on. Weirdly enough, there are a bunch of 4060 spoken word examples on youtube, but with the midrange detail it had when I tried it next to a at4047 I can see why.

Still after a second Sony 38B one day but it can wait - excited to try the 4060 on overhead and stereo acoustic choices.
