Don't know if Traynor bass heads are available, but they're good. Fender also has a bunch of options in terms of lighter cabs that are cheaper & I think sound great:https://shop.fender.com/en-US/bass-amplifiers/https://reverb.com/marketplace/amps/bas ... rice%7Caschttps://reverb.com/marketplace/amps/bas ... rice%7Casc

Frank Decent wrote:I kinda am wanting this, now:https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail ... -bass-headI don't know anything about TC Electronic. Are they crap? The sound is nice and I really don't want more features than this. Opinions?I think those TC Electronics are quite good. I also think they look cool & I agree its basic features are appealing. I don't know how a 200-500W Rumble head or cab would not be heard over a band... For the money, all of those things are great. I owned a Hartke that cost far more that was utterly incapable of a decent sound. Anyways, the TC Electronics has a headphone out “  you could probably figure out pretty quickly if you could get the sound you needed even without a cab & return it if necessary.

My SKB case is with my EGC in Alabama and the case I'm using in the meantime is pretty shitty, definitely not durable enough for flights. If you're looking for an inexpensive-ish option (and hopefully you can find one locally), the Gator TSA Series ATA case has worked great for me:https://gatorcases.com/products/guitar/ ... a-gtrbass/

I assume the info there is sketchy? There's good information but it'll get obscured by unpractical suggestions for people that play real mu sicIt might keep up, but barely, and there will be some kind of depth to it that you'll find yourself wanting. Go play it though should be easy to find. The 400rb will do you just fine for your whole life, even if you ever buy something better it'll be the best backup friend you could ask for. There were two at GC here for less than $200 last time I went

I would prefer a head and separate cab set up just for ease of transport. Gallien Kruger sounds nicer than I thought it would. Just a good, honest bass sound. That's all I want. Don't want a hundred knobs.I've recorded two different GK setups this month. One guy had a 4x10 with a head, the other guy had a combo. Both sounded great with almost zero work from me. Bright and attacky without being brittle or annoying. Fits right into the mix. I see the big Ampegs all the time, and the house bass amp is a Mesa Boogie 400. I'll take a GK along with them any day. I feel like half of the rock/punk/metal/whatever bands were playing them in the 90's and they weirdly went out of style for no apparent reason.
