The problem is often that people are from some Latin American nation, and Latino is a better choice. But if you know someone is from Mexico, they are a Mexican. I have seen so many PC'ers pussyfoot around that word.

I have a mexican strat.. Am I being offensive? Should I be reffering to it as a latino strat? I would like to have gotten an american one, but it would have cost more.

I think what was questioned was whether the OP knew the person was really of Mexican descent. Or was the OP just calling the Latino a Mexican as a blanket category.

In your case, the intrument has "Made in Mexico" on it... no ambiguity exists.

Oh, and as a side note in general, gringo is not pejorative on it's own...
in context...well I can call you "a fuckin piece of cake" and alter the meaning of the word cake.

...yous fuckin pieces of cake!

Kind Regards,
David

AP 9-5-07 wrote:A standup routine by black comedian Eddie Griffin was stopped after he repeatedly used the N-word, a magazine’s spokesman said Wednesday.

Griffin was performing at a Black Enterprise magazine event in the Miami suburb of Doral on Friday when he was cut off after using profanities and the N-word, said Andrew Wadium, a spokesman for the publication.

“We believe that ending the performance was the appropriate action,” Wadium said.

Griffin’s publicist, Jeff Abraham, didn’t immediately return an e-mail and a call seeking comment.
