The new A-Frames is good.

The new Unsane is well, and Unsane record.

Can't really think of anything else.

My band put out a record.

i'm really into this new 12", Supersonic Mezze, by the French electronic artist Subjex. the B side in particular just fucking kills it! what an awesome, awesome record. it just rules http://subjex.free.fr/DISCOG.htm

i have a lot of favorite new songs from this year (Mahjongg's "The Rabbit" comes to mind) but as for actual whole releases -- great from beginning to end -- i can't honestly say i've been enthralled by anything. (the new Broadcast, for instance --- sometimes i think is their absolute worst, and sometimes i like it a lot. Colleen's The Golden Morning Breaks is good background listening, but i rarely actively listen to it. the new Smog has some great songs, but it's hardly his best work. Sharon Jones' Naturally has at least a couple AMAZING songs, like "How Long Do I Have To Wait For You?", but on the whole it doesn't hold a candle to Dap Dippin' With..., etc., etc.) plus i have yet to hear the new Vashti Bunyan record (i love that first lp that was reissued a year back), AFX's Analord records (at least a few of which a probably good), and tons of other shit by artists whose previous work i thoroughly enjoy (Silver Jews, Pierre Bastien, Autechre, Lungfish, etc.)

oh, and i haven't even bothered with the new Crooked Fingers. anyone like this? (didn't seem that interesting to me from a production standpoint, and i already own LOADS os EB's music, so...)

yeah, they've got some good free stuff on Bedroom Research. i like the Deework album best so far. btw, if you haven't heard Subjex's "Interstella" 7" on Planet Mu, i recommend picking it up. the b-side, "funkynightmare", is the bee's knees. you can download it from Bleep by going here http://www.bleep.com/?bleep=ZIQ060 and checking out track seven.

his new 12" should have better distro next year, but i got it in a couple of weeks off of french site called alapage.com

cheers.

it's such a good album! my favorite LP of the year, hands down. (which sorta makes up for the disappointment that was Sharon Jones & the Dap Kings' Naturally.)

this is the way modern funk traditionalism should sound. a lot of awesome production choices that compliment the songs without being too distracting or retro-cheesy.

it's funky as hell but it's also got a cool jazzy/soundtrack vibe to it that gives the instrumentals a breezy flow.

i have yet to see the El Michels Affair on anyone's Best of 2005 list, which is just silly.

Please tell me what i am missing. It flys right by me.
I love (smog), I love Bill, what the hell is wrong with me?

And which Jandek album would you recommend for a complete asshat like myself?

Thank you.
