Looks like Slint better get on Ebay...

I am bored enough with the work that I find myself doing tonight to do search for the S-word on this forum. How sad! It came up with 555 - Number of the Undecided.

Ah, Slint! I remember quite vociferously defending the reunion concerts almost two years back. Why? I enjoyed the two gigs that I went to, nevertheless.

I would probably go and see them again. Maybe without the overbearing hype they'll surprise again. I'd like to see Brian McMahan writing again, and I'd like to see them without the accompaniment of the nattering of cokeheads.

PS Sphincter (read aloud that sounds porno) - It's just banter. No need to get upset, honest.

I think it's kinda funny that they had someone at Electrical (Steve?) isolate all the seperate tracks off the original tapes because they had all forgotten the songs and needed to hear each instrument on it's own to re-learn a lot of it*.

*I might be wrong about this, but that's what Leslie from Touch & Go told me.

Who gives a fuck? They wrote them, they played them. We came, we saw, we (mostly) liked. I get that you're being all 'bad-ass' by knocking a sacred cow to most EA forum folks but really, c'mon...there's easier targets

From what I have heard about the preparations for those shows I don't think lazy would be an accurate word.

I can't say whether they had to relearn their parts or not, but I know they had to isolate the bass so that they could audition bass players. However, if they did have to relearn the songs from the recordings I wouldn't fault them. I've had to do it myself with older songs that I haven't played in years.

I think I just fail to see what folks expected slint to be like, what - did you want them to go crazy or something?

I thought the reunion idea was as shitty as anyone else and one look at that www.slint.us site shows everyone at least some of their motivations but the 2 gigs I saw were bizarre, amazing and a bit scary. Much like the band. It was mission accomplished as far as I could see.

I'm not getting upset, I'm just posting my opinion man.

I think it's funny how you all react when someone comes along with an opinion different to yours. Anyway, this tool I was posting to is clearly just trying to be the message-board badass who's always got something racey to say. Here's something racey for you to say-when they ask you if you want your salad deep-fried when your in McDonalds for breakfast this morning say 'no'.

I wasn't getting at you. You offered an opinion, someone else offered a different one, you made a little crack, so did he. Your sweeping comment about how "we all react" is somewhat off, though. A few are a little more aggressive than others, but as I said, it is by and large just banter.

Funnily enough I've used messageboards before, I know how people like to stomp all over everything. My sweeping comment was correct, you're wrong.

Cheers.

These were words I just wrote.
Oh, was I stating the obvious?
