Certain bands get better and better as they get older. Fugazi and Lungfish come to mind. I know both bands are gone but I'll bet if they were still making albums, they would continue the upwards trajectory. Both bands left incredible swan-song albums.

Mission of Burma will blow basically any 'young' band off the stage nine nights out of ten.
