If you are travelling to New Orleans, I would recommend the
Royal Street Courtyard. It is quite nice.

I went to one in Savannah that was pretty nice but it felt like I was paying $200 a night to stay at Grandma's house.

I don't roll with expensive lodging. I'll be in San Diego for a conference Oct 25-28, and I have a reservation at the nearby youth hostel -- like a sane person. I AM paying for the private room, which in my earlier days was unthinkable if I was solo.
Anyone know what to do in San Diego? I usually skip everything at this conference...if I'm not presenting, that is. Shit.
B&Bs...I remember going on a trip to Maine with the ex-fiance (yeesh) 11 years ago and he booked B&Bs the whole fucking way. I was always seated with the fucking dorkiest British twins who fought like bastards over breakfast while the now-ex slept in until 2 pm upstairs. Fuck that.

You guys are nuts. B+Bs have always treated me well.
I never ate the food, I never talked to anyone other then the desk person. I spend very little time in the room.
Drinks late into the evening, sleep for all of a few hours, and up and out with a bloody mary in the morning for a little fresh air and beach mist.
