This is not helpful.

Allow me to clarify:

Please discuss the distinction/differences between the ER-4 and the ER-6. Convince me that the ER-4 is worth the extra money for use primarliy with a friggin' digital audio device (wtf).

I hope that this question is sufficiently clear.

That is much clearer. I cannot make this argument, but presumably you are looking for the 'technical specs' listed on the info sheet of each product:

There are significant problems with any frequency response specs for in-ear monitors.

1. There is no industry standard for measurement
2. The frequency response of in-ear monitors is entirely dependent on the ear they're stuck in

This means that

1. You can't compare these earphones to other company's earphones, and
2. The frequency response you see in these charts is not what you'll hear in your ears

Someday there may be a standard for testing these things (someone makes a dummy head specifically for testing how things sound from inside an ear), but it's not there yet. So know what process was used to obtain these specs, & take them with a grain of salt.

I just recently picked up a pair of hd 570's, they sound pretty decent to me if you're looking for a full sized headphone. Though they aren't super efficient. When I was in Japan last year I picked up a pair of Panasonic headphones; the wraparound the ear kind. The cord recoils into the body making them super compact. I like them a lot for commuting.

This thread has been extremely helpful. 1000 thanks yous to everyone that has contributed.

BUT

What is the difference between the er-6's and the er-6i's? This graph tells me that the er-6's have a better response accuracy, yet the er-6i's are $10 more.

Should I go ahead and order the er-6's, or wait a week until the 6i's are in stock?

THANK YOU VERY MUCH

It is as you say. Buit the ER-6i's are trendy and white, so as to match your iPod.

How much do you like white?

I believe custom molds can also be made, probably by the same shop Bob mentioned, for both models as well as the ER-4's. I have never seen a need for this, but it sounds like an awfully handy feature if you want it. More info can obviously be found on the webpage but as I'm starting to sound like a salesman, I will stop there.
