Its a keystone badge era kit if that makes any difference.

Just this? Or is there something I should get that's different in one way or another?

Yep that should do it! Honestly, I think my favorite thing about Ludwig is that there's very little in the way of replacement parts that cannot still be sourced because almost all of it is still in production...as opposed to having to set up alerts on ebay and reverb when scouring for Camco/George Way hardware on my other kits.
Garth is right. Exactly that! Should be a perfect fit!
Is there a reissue type replacement for the smaller early '70s Ludwig spur mounts? I had one go south recently and an FM was super kind and sent me one he wasn't using. But I'm paranoid about another one going south in the future.

Yeah I think the part you want is Ludwig P1676A. I'm not sure if the spurs themselves will fit the holes in the shell as they're probably too large diameter, but there's also Ludwig LC1308SP which is more heavy-duty.

I made a terrible mistake and replaced mine w/ the ATLAS mounts and they were terrible. Did not grip a carpet at all. Beauty to look at in that sorta tech/robot way, but utterly dog-shit useless. Also I didn't think them through and they cracked the acrylic shell because they're big, heavy, and stick out. Not a good combo on Vistalites and soft cases. *sigh* Still mad at myself about it.

Honestly, I don't really care for those stabby kick mounts so I went w/ those bass drum hoop clamp-ons from DW: The DW DWSM2224 Clamp-On Bass Drum Hoop Spur. The only thing w/ those is that you may be tempted to over-tighten them. Don't. The clamps are die-cast and therefore brittle enough to break. Years of using shitty hardware and over-tightening has been a difficult habit to break when using decent gear.

My neighbor's kid up the block has a mini-kit in the basement. They are dear friends.
All the sizes are tiny and the cymbals are a joke, but that's OK, he's 10.
He's getting the hang of it and plays drums in a combo at school.

The last time I had to buy (normal-sized) drum heads in NYC I ended up at stupid shitty Guitar Center and even then they didn't have what we needed. So where's a good place to order drum heads online?
Small/independent sellers are preferred.

I want to get new top and bottom heads for each drum, what should I get?
Looking for cheap and durable.

The heads are very bumpy, help a brother out.
There's gonna be a Christmas miracle on my block this year, goddammit.

Sorry to distract the thread, I will come back with proper before/after shots, as those are always super fun to see.

Kudos to all the drum-savers doing excellent work in this thread, keep 'em coming.

Unfortunately you can't get both. As I think about it, I'm not even sure cheaper "entry level" heads exist as replacements in the same way you can get like blow-out factory-second drumsticks. The cheap heads I see are usually the stock OEM heads that come on entry-level kits and they just plain fucking suck and are NOT worth purchasing.

What makes your task especially tricky is new drummers can make this extraordinarily difficult - they're going to screw around and screw up - both with drum tuning and just having a goof and maybe striking the head extra hard. If you really need a bargain, you might just check w/ drummer friends or studio friends and see if they save their old used heads for emergencies. I have a small pile in the garage because ya never know. EDIT: In fact I'd be happy to mail some of my not-so-gently used heads to you if you tell me the sizes. Unfortunately, I usually wait until I'm at "have to" state for replacement and with the pandemic haven't been going through heads as fast so I may or may not be able to help, but feel free to PM me if you want.

Anyway, for actual recommendations: I wouldn't say they are cheap but I'm extraordinarily surprised and happy with the new UV1 and UV2 line from Evans. They're comparable in sound to the Remo Ambassador coated and Emperor coated respectively. The UV-cured coating doesn't seem to flake off like coated heads that we may be used to. These are my current drum crush for new gear.

For the resonant heads, I go w/ thin heads personally: Remo Diplomat or Evans Resonant. If you really, really, really need to cheap out here, this I guess would be the place to do it? You could maybe TRY the heat gun trick on the existing clear heads, in fact EA folks did a nice video here, but to be honest, I have never tried it to know if it works. I dunno, you might get away w/ something.

Final tip, If those drums are standard size you can usually at least get a deal by buying in a pack and they'll include a snare head for free - but those drums appear to be an odd combo just by scoping out the picture (eyeballing a 10, 13 and 18 is my guess?) wondering if this was the second half of a double-kick kit at some point?

Evans sells packs of heads in common sizes that help shave off a few bucks but I don't know if it'll cover those sizes. It's usually like 12/13/14/16, maybe even minus the 13, it's been a while since I've bought a pack.

for durable batter heads: clear Remo Pinstripes. There are more musical sounding heads but that's not the point here.
for resos: clear Remo Ambassador or the Evans equivalent, G1

It's hard to tell from the pic, but the real Remo head on the floor tom looks less cratered than the mounted toms. To me, that seems like the rack toms have crummy Attack heads or equivalent, and replacing with a decent "rock weight" Evans or Remo would be a good call and probably last a while. I'd personally go with black dots as a durable, general purpose head on toms, and a heavy coated head on snare.

How are the bottom heads? I never change mine and they must be a decade old now and they sound fine.

Good call with a stick-on kevlar pad on the kick, if the head is somewhat ok.

Drum Center of New Hampshire is my regional go-to, but there are a lot of great mom and pop stores out there as well.

I read this initially as you cant get both top and bottom heads for each drum and was instantly confused and intrigued!

I like Fork's! I also like Nelson Drum Shop! Also in Nashvegas!

The best place to get heads used to be Cascio Interstate, former workplace of a forum member. The thousands of dollars I spent there over the years was apparently not enough to keep them out of receivership, alas.

Pinstripes are super durable, as people have already said!

Good luck, kiddo! This is how I started!
