Re: Music RUINED by (or associated with) a partner’s/roommate’s/etc. actions

I'm currently relying on a local pub to charge electrical things and what not, which means I have little choice but to be sat there while doing this.

Christ, the music. It's this largely 90s, occasionally Manchester-leaning loop, and it manages to wreck even the odd good song by dint of the waste surrounding it.

The really frustrating thing is, once in a while, this is replaced by a well-curated dub selection that's so out of place I wonder if my subconscious is sending it to my ears as defence.

This past autumn, my partner and I were in a suburban strip mall restaurant where they played this song three times in a row. I thought we had died out on the highway and were stuck in purgatory.
A friend of mine worked for a while as a bartender and came to hate this song too. I love it, but I haven’t had to endure it coming up on a jukebox twenty times a night.

I spent a night in a small town jail that was four small cells and a desk for the jailer. It was just me and him. He fell asleep with the radio on around 2:00 AM. It was tuned to a hot hits station, and I heard Spin Doctors "Two Princes", REM "Man On The Moon", and Duran Duran "Ordinary World" twice an hour for about 9 hours straight. Not that I'd spend any time listening to those songs anyway, but HOLY SHIT I still have a visceral reaction in my gut when I hear even just the first few bars of any of them.
