Back in the olden days, I saw this teenage(well, I think that he was mid-teens looking back...) walk up to the soda machine and put about one blast of everything in the machine in his glass.

Blew my mind back then.

I have been that kid for my entire life as far as metal goes.

I like metal just fine, and it's cool that they managed to totally shed anything to do with Blues from the rock and roll formula. Thus, if I want to hear real metal, the harsher the better. But Proto/Hard-Rock has too many classics to not come out on top....and I like the Blues anyways.

Voted death metal because the first wave made a big impact on me at the time. Black metal is a close second.
