everything'll be cool.

it's funny how you can see subtle shifts in identity politics with every new tournament. there are tons of cars with both turkish & german flags this time, in stark contrast to eight years ago.

I've been seeing this a lot today, it is really pleasing. I've just got back from an exhibition with my two flatmates, after which we stopped at the best kebab place I've ever been to. The guy serving asked Yvonne, "Deutschland or Turkey?" and she said, it doesn't matter, we're all going to win anyway.

Now, this feels corny to write, but in person it was just cheerful banter. NOT CRAP

This Russian side is the equal -- or better -- of any left in the competition. I genuinely believe it.

Granted, the Dutch looked as flat in this match as they were exciting in their first three, but credit where credit's due.

It'll be very interesting to see if Spain goes down against Italy tomorrow, as every other squad-resting-group winner has.

What a classic tournament.
