My company is hiring 3 Software Engineers, 1 AI/ML engineer, 1 Devops and 2 Data engineers.
We are an ed-tech company teaching kids to read and are lead by educators, not technologists.
Just got laid off, so I'm interested!

Just got some news about a shake-up in the company and I fear that I might be back on the job market soon.
Why can't I just have some stability in my life?

It's brutal out there in tech.
I'm usually one of the best in my team wherever I work. The market's picking up, but a mix of fumbling interviews (found out I'm probably autistic, fwiw) and work gaps mean I'm not even getting interviews for stuff I know I'd completely crush.
Time to put the nose to the grindstone.

For any engineering or engineering-adjacent folks in various metros (Chicago, Raleigh, Portland, San Jose, etc.), we're still hiring.

Yep. I'm interviewing for the type of work I was doing the first 6 months I entered this "in demand" industry and recruiters/hiring managers are just downright insulting about it. "Oh, but they really wanted 3-4 years of Salesforce experience for this junior level role". Bitch, it's a ERP/CRM interface. Any non-dunce could at least get basic up and running with it by the end of the first day or two.
I don't see it ever fully coming back, frankly. The same way the auto industry was once a reliable gig only to be decimated by outsourcing and automation/AI.

I see the problem: You're not lying to these people. Just lie. There's no downside.

I've seen it backfire on a few people (this one contractor talked his way onto a DevOps team and it took the other guys about a month to figure out he didn't know or do
shit) but they just flew a little too close to the sun.

I've lied a little. Now I'm going to lie more.
Unfortunately though, the world of work runs on charisma, not competence.

Dealing with recruiters, I figure it's like eating shark or alligator meat: They'd eat you if they had half a chance. It's just fair to return the favor.
Salesforce has their own special sauce they put on relational databases. You could probably get spun up in the time it took to get a good stain going in the bottom of your cubicle coffee cup.

It's called "rizz" now, daddio.
These posts are disheartening, keep well out there.
