Dude buys a shirt from the merch table, "cheers". Customer service person realizes a mistake and gives a discount, cheers. Something about being the American guy saying this makes me feel like I'm that guy when I do it. "Thanks" just doesn't get the same work done.

One step further sometimes the Spaniard's "vale" seems the ideal way to combine "It's a deal" with "right on". I'm certain it doesn't sound as cool to spaniards as it does to me. I'm definitely not about to drop it in an English conversation with a stranger, it just feels like the best word. This is the allure of other culture's communication.
I love "cheers".

Japanese is the king of snappy, jolly expressions like that. Saying ohayƓ as your morning greeting really sounds like you're bouncing out of bed with arms outstretched, sunbeams falling on your face. And their yosh for "allrighty then" captures the right mood like nothing else.

in girlscouts for daddy daughter date we went to a bowling alley so you know it's already seedy and then we played a game where they put a sugar cube in the middle of a piece of licorice and we raced to eat it and kiss

i even have pics of this creepy bowling kiss stepdad moment of my life that seemed like barely innocent

Why even buy the physical media of records, cds, tapes anymore?

Oh boy....there's like a lot of internet discussion about this. There must be thread, no? I no longer keep media for things that I consider ephemeral (greatest hits comps have reached extinction). I also think you could make an easy argument that stored media files are good enough for everything. For me it comes down to not tying my ongoing interests to the whims of a company. I literally own the license to listen to music and the delivery method. Otherwise I own only the license. At the end of the day I also just enjoy being off a screen whenever possible.

Leaving a message with a tree service company and saying "my name is Tree" is awkward.
