A new chamber music venue held in an old 7-11 had performances in honor of World Space Week. The anchor of the program was advertised as Terry Riley Sunrise of the Planetary Dream Collector with a big photograph of Terry Riley leading me to believe I'd be watching Terry Riley for 22 bones in an old 7-11. Alas, that was not the case but an engaging performance nonetheless. Other pieces included were from composers Felipe Perés Santiago commissioned by SETI; Garth Knox, and Allistair Coleman.

FACS / Swervedriver

Phenomenal show. Swervedriver rearranged my DNA. Impeccable sound, and they played "The Birds," best song ever that I will take to the grave.

Sad to miss Grandaddy tonight.

Just had a blast playing an early Sunday show at a very cool spot in Poughkeepsie NY called Reason & Ruckus. The sound guy needs a bit more experience but he was very helpful and drums sound great in that room. The subs are always a bit much but that's true of almost everywhere it seems.

The guy who booked it has been really cranking out a ton of shows in the Hudson Valley as well as back in the DC area where he's from. It's great to see people making shit happen for the love of the game, because this area requires consistent and intentional cultivation to maintain a music scene due to geo'n'demographics.
