I sold Barry Manilow CD's at the store I was working at in Boston. He was browsing the used jazz section for a good 20 minutes, nobody in the store recognized him. That was until he handed me his credit card. Barry fuckin' Manilow. He's a tall skinny mofo.

Sold CDs to Tom Hamilton from Aerosmith at the same place.

In one ski trip to Utah, I stood in the chow line with James Caan, and the next day ate brunch at the table next to Rob Morrow. Sunday Brunch at the Stein Erickson Lodge.... (It was during Sundance)

My band played with: Creed, Tad, Hole, Cosmic Psychos, King Snake Roost and a shit ton more that I cannot remember.

When I was in college radio, I interviewed in person: Husker Du, Mick Harvey, Big Black, others whose names escape me. I still have the Big Black cassette somewhere.

The following bands have stayed at my house: Tar, Big Dipper, Celibate Rifles, others who I cannot remember.

I have seen Jack Palance striding purposefully through the LA Airport.

I hung out backstage very briefly and got to introduce Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, who at the time were Mick Harvey, Barry Adamson, Blixa Bargeld and Hugo Race. "WZBC is proud to present Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds" Blixa weirded me out.

I have nothing, like, nothing. I saw P.J. O'Rourke in a fancy restaurant in Banff, Alberta, but didn't want to interrupt him while he was eating. It seemed rude.
Okay but I have do have an interesting story where I SNUBBED a semi-famous musician. When the Oranges Band opened up for Ted Leo, I went to see The Oranges. I knew who Ted Leo was - my wife has a couple of his records, and you always hear (or heard? he's still "hip", right?) about him in 'proper circles'. But I'm not a fan. So I'm talking to Roman about all kinds of shit (grilling him on Roads To Space Travel b-sides) and Ted Leo wanders in. I don't recognize him, of course, and I'm in the midst of talking to Roman...who takes the time to say "Ted, this is M_a_x! M_a_x this is Ted!". I'm a little tipsy and say 'hey' and Roman explains "He's in the headlining band" and I say something like "Oh, awesome, you get to see The Oranges every night then!" I might of even been a little rude. I think Ted Leo frowned in my direction.
Now I don't even like TOB much. But their first two EPs are really really good.

I've seen Ted Leo twice and don't get the appeal either.

I spoke to Bjork in her boyfriend Goldie's club, Metalheadz, in London a few moons ago. It was difficult conversation what with my Scottish accent and her with her Icelandic/Cockney mix. I was also distracted by Goldie randomly handing out bottles of Champagne to punters across the bar. I didn't get one, though.

I almost interviewed Alex from franz ferdinand when he was in The Karelia. He drank in our pub a lot....that was quite a shite anecdote really.

Oh yeah, when I saw Nirvana at Club Dreamerz back in like 1988, Axl Rose was there, standing in a back corner of the room with his giant bodyguard. Nobody there seemed to really give a shit.

After the show, Axl meandered around the room all by himself and read the graffiti on the walls.
