Does anyone know offhand if low-profile, less obtrusive replacements for fender/jewel-style indicator lights exist?
I really, really hate the way those things look and I'm curious if there's like a flat LED option or anything that'll drop in the same (enormous) hole.
Sorta niche, but…

I've never seen anything fully flat. These seem maybe a *tad* better but not much:

Torlex and ScorpiTone really would go hand in hand... or fang in stinger?

I have a few live rock band recordings from the early 2Ks that are a couple mics at the back of the room and into a mini disc recorder. The sound is not great but I’m wondering what 2025 level technology I could throw at it to improve things. Is this a deal where individual instruments can be separated, processed, and summed back together? What is the Taper Section up to these days with their mixing?
Steinberg's Spectralayers is on sale for $209 (reg $349) right now and that has some pretty good stem separation. So you can get the individual elements out and remix them TO SOME EXTENT. Depending on the source files, there'll be some bleed between elements (i.e. bits of drums in the guitar tracks), and in my experience if you start putting non-linear stuff (saturation/compression) on some tracks and not others you're gonna have some CRAZEE phasey side effects and be in a world of misery. So tread carefully.
Just remembered you can demo that for 30 days, full functioning, so I'd just grab that and try it out.
Follow-up: I tried this yesterday, and it was pretty bleedy when I tried to pull drum stems out of the mix. I think this may be more related to the poor club acoustics and messy aesthetic of the band (kinda Boston’s version of The Fall) than the software. It took a long time to process an hour long set but I may mess with it some more after I split the 60 minute wav into smaller chunks.

Those are quite a bit nicer, might do the job, thank you!

The dialight 557 seems to be the thing. Panel mount indicator light with a 11/16" mounting hole.

That looks baller as shit BUT keep in mind that they're available in 5, 12, 24, and 28 VDC power options. A normal Fender amp lamp runs of 6.3 VAC. So you'd need to add a little rectifier circuit with a voltage regulator that taps off of some AC. Not a huge deal but requires a bit of know-how.

Indeed!
I dug around on eBay a bit and found these as well, which look like they *might* be thread-compatible replacements for the fender-style jewels. Might take a flyer and see if they work.

Weirdly, I can't seem to find anywhere in Canada that stocks the smooth jewels.

Im adding some functionality to our matrix processor at work to make it easier for event staff to facilitate things like a corporate speaker with a wireless mic or DJ night. Anyway im adding an additional 2u panel with 16 d-panel ins/outs and wondering if there is a way to label it in a relatively easy way that makes it look more professional (vs silver sharpie or label maker) since its going to be installed and visible on stage. I have seen a lot of the builds you guys have done that look super professional and clean.
