As I mentioned earlier, I was in CDMX last weekend working for a band and had an incredible time. Would definitely move there.

I was in Ireland last March. Would definitely move there.

I was in Spain a few times over the past few years. Would also move there.

The thing of it is that my wife has always said to me "I don't want to feel like I'm running away from something, I want to feel like I'm running TO SOMETHING BETTER."

and currently, I'm motioning vaguely at everything, saying "Babe, we work constantly just to keep from going under. There's no pension system worth mentioning in this country and if the current President crashes the bond market, all of our retirement is tied up in the Wall Street Casino. Let's at least get somewhere where either 1. The mangoes are incredible, or 2. we don't have to roast through Georgia summers."

I told Lalo the stage manager in CDMX "If you hear of anyone looking for a drummer, I'll fly down here to audition."

My brother-in-law is looking at places in Australia right now. They have an adult trans kid who lives at home, still. They're looking to get out.

What I'm saying is, y'know, if you know of anyone who needs a drummer (me) or a tenured theatre professor (sweet wife), holler at your boy. I currently speak A2 level Spanish, A1 French, enough German to get arrested.
Any drummer in my town is in at least 3 bands... We have a well documented drummer shortage. (Jus' Sayin'), AND recently re-elected our Left leaning gubmint by a fucking landslide. Interest rates down by .25 twice in as many reserve bank meetings. Things looking up here, get on down here.

rough day at work yesterday and my better half volunteered to fix dinner so i went upstairs to crank out some obnoxious guitar.

for numerous reasons, my guitar setup is an interface, reaper and some good earphones. but we've also been in a state of flux for most of the last decade and it has only really been in the last two months or so that i've had a assumed-permanent place to fuck about with this sort of thing.

upshot is, lots of little bits of cumulative effort - a track template, setting up the gain staging on my interface - have begun to pay off. five minutes after entering the room i was recording my practice, and it sounded clear and good, and i accidentally began to figure out that slow, lovely arrangement of 'La Jetée' that Jeff Parker recorded on his 'Forfolks' record.

Is it easier to move there than New Zealand? My friend got turned away at the airport and wasn't allowed to visit there for a couple of years simply because she had started some process of applying to go there for political reasons when Trump was elected the first time, and then when she just wanted to go for a vacation they canceled her flight. They claimed she was a high risk of defecting or some shit, and basically they don't want to give free health care to foreigners. Autistic people (including children) aren't allowed to move there, and up to I think 2021 the same was true for HIV+ people. The crazy thing is that if she did move there she was going to invest literal millions into the NZ economy.

I would imagine so, Oz is so multicultural (in the cities at least) you wouldn't believe. UK and US citizens wouldn't have an issue, judging by the amount of Chinese and Indian peeps that move here. Universal free healthcare here too. We have an open border with NZ pretty much, we come and go as we like.
