Is there anything that non-Chicago people can do for this legal process, like, say, a letter-writing campaign?

When one of the workers at my corner bodega was shot by a retired cop, the neighborhood mobilized and sent a torrent of letters to the court, basically asking them to not give him a slap on the wrist. It worked, to an extent.

Maybe I'm naive, but I still believe in the power of writing letters.
